International Symposium “European Rivers and Towns” (1-2 July 2016)
The IREST-Paris University of Tourism organised together with Val-de-Marne Tourism Board a scientific symposium upon the subject on 1-2 July 2016. They interested specifically in European Rivers and Towns – Creation, development and perspectives of a (re)newed conquest : Tourism, Leisure, and Heritage.
The goal-perspective approach to the conference was a pluridisciplinary task, seeking to understand the complex circumstances that intersect with several areas and disciplines (the right to leisure, history and sociology of leisure activities, tourism, tourism marketing, social dynamics, urbanism – spatial development and planning, environment – nature and landscape, water sports – riverside fun activities, environmental psychology).
This conference contributed to the collective discussion to create this European network based on the development of leisure in European metropolis riversides.
